Ferry Docked with Car and Passengers — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm footage from Portugal in 1972 captures a ferry docked at a waterfront, with a classic white car and passengers on the deck. The scene unfolds under a deep purple sky, with calm blue water stretching to a distant shoreline. The film exhibits characteristic Super 8 grain and color saturation, offering a nostalgic glimpse of mid-20th century transportation and coastal life. A small structure with arched windows stands on the right, while people move about the ferry, suggesting daily travel or tourism. The clip’s warm, faded tones evoke a sense of time-worn memory and retro charm.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s Portugal waterfront transport footage suited to documentary requests for ferries, coastal travel, tourism, or everyday mobility in period home-movie archives.
Period detail: The ferry, boxy light-colored car, dock structure, saturated reversal-film color, and 1972 metadata together support a Portuguese early-1970s coastal travel setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged travel-film perspective, observing passengers and a car at the dock from a distance rather than presenting a formal transport scene.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a white passenger ferry, a small classic car, several people on or near the dock, calm blue water, a low distant shoreline, and a dockside structure with arched openings.
Film character: The 8mm image carries visible grain, strong blue-purple color shift, soft focus, mild gate shadow, and handheld framing that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, coastal travel cutaway, transport transition, or memory beat between broader Portugal travel scenes.
Historical context: The footage visually situates ferry travel as part of everyday coastal movement or tourism without identifying the port, route, operator, or passengers.
Research note: People are visible at a distance, so likeness review may be needed, while copyright and any property or vessel permissions should be assessed separately from the absence of visible logos.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1972 Portugal ferry dock, 8mm waterfront transport, Portuguese coastal travel home movie, classic car on ferry, and 1970s passenger boat footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Portugal 1972 waterfront material, and then broader ferry, coastal tourism, and vintage transport scenes.
