An Adventurous And Fearless Lady Enjoying A Water Skiing... — Clip Details

A grainy, dark 8mm home movie from 1962 captures a woman water skiing at night on a lake in St. Paul, Minnesota. The footage, shot in low light, shows her silhouette gliding across the water, illuminated by a bright spotlight that creates a dramatic blue-white trail behind her. She wears a dark swimsuit and holds the tow rope, her figure slightly blurred by motion and the film's vintage quality. The scene evokes a sense of daring and nostalgia, with the dark water and night sky contrasting against the illuminated path of the skier.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s U.S. recreation requests needing brief, atmospheric home-movie footage of nighttime water skiing and lakeside leisure.
Period detail: The 8mm look, swimwear silhouette, tow rope, and spotlighted lake surface support the supplied 1962 home-movie context, though no landmarks or dated signage are visible.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged recreational moment as a woman skis through darkness while the camera follows her from a distant, low-light vantage point.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a female water skier, tow rope, dark lake water, blue-white spotlight spill, wake spray, night background, and heavy film grain.
Film character: The footage has dense 8mm grain, low exposure, soft focus, motion blur, and color flare that give the night scene a strongly physical archival texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, memory beat, or transition for mid-century summer recreation, risk-taking leisure, or home-movie night scenes.
Historical context: The scene reflects private recreational boating culture in the early 1960s, with the skier’s visibility shaped almost entirely by artificial light on the water.
Research note: A person is visible but not clearly identifiable, so likeness review may still be needed, while no logos, private property, or music cues are evident from the supplied metadata.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1960s 8mm home movie night water skiing, woman water skier lake footage, St. Paul Minnesota recreation film, and vintage spotlight water sports.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1962 St. Paul or Minnesota lake recreation footage, then broader mid-century water skiing and boating material.
