Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This 1949 8mm Seaside, New Jersey pool scene can support archival requests for mid-century American leisure, summer recreation, and home-movie inserts with visible adults at a residential-style swimming pool.
Period detail: The swim cap, simple pool deck furniture, metal ladder, and saturated 8mm color may show late-1940s domestic leisure styling, supported by the clip metadata identifying Seaside, New Jersey in 1949.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has unstaged home-movie value in the relaxed swimmers, casual pool-edge gestures, and brief interaction around a floating object in the water.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two adult swimmers, a red swim cap, pool water, a curved pool edge, lounge chairs, a metal ladder, and a small float or cushion near the swimmers.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm texture with visible grain, high-contrast sunlight, slight blur, darkened shadows, and home-movie framing that gives the pool scene a physical-film presence.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief summer memory beat, recreational cutaway, transition from beach or vacation material, or insert for postwar leisure and domestic pool life.
Historical context: The scene reflects a small-scale private leisure moment rather than a public event, with adults spending time in a swimming pool amid deck chairs and bright sun.
Research note: Faces and likenesses are visible and should be reviewed separately from copyright status, while no logos, audible music, or clearly identifiable brands are visible in the supplied frames.
Research search match: Relevant search language includes 1949 8mm home movie swimming pool, Seaside New Jersey summer leisure, vintage swim cap pool footage, and mid-century American pool day.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other shots from the same reel, then with Seaside or New Jersey footage from 1949, and then with broader vintage swimming, summer leisure, and home-movie vacation scenes.
