Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This clip helps document a late-1940s American summer leisure scene for productions needing brief home-movie footage of family recreation at a swimming pool.
Period detail: The footage may show period swimwear, an outdoor pool with a curved edge and metal ladder, and the soft color response associated with mid-century 8mm home movies.
Home-movie behavior: The unstaged value comes from swimmers casually relaxing, floating, and moving through the water as someone films a private summer moment from poolside.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue-green pool water, adult swimmers, a curved pool edge, a metal ladder, sunlit decking, and small splashes from movement.
Film character: The clip has a grainy 8mm texture with soft focus, modest exposure variation, faded blue-green color, and a handheld home-movie feel.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short memory beat, summer recreation cutaway, or transitional insert in a sequence about family vacations or mid-century leisure.
Historical context: The scene reflects ordinary postwar domestic recreation through visible poolside relaxation rather than any identifiable public event or landmark.
Research note: People are visible and likeness review may be needed, while no logos or audible music are evident and copyright clearance remains separate from any likeness or property considerations.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1940s 8mm swimming pool home movie, Seaside New Jersey family vacation footage, backyard pool summer recreation, and vintage swimmers in pool.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other footage from the same reel, then with Seaside or New Jersey material from 1949, and then with broader 1940s summer family recreation scenes.
