Archive brief fit: This clip supports archival requests for late-1940s American summer leisure, especially documentary or museum sequences needing brief home-movie pool recreation from Seaside, New Jersey.
Period detail: The metal patio chairs, patterned lounge cushions, bathing cap, inner tube, and color 8mm texture may show mid-century poolside recreation consistent with the 1949 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has unstaged home-movie value in its casual view of a woman moving from the pool deck into the water and paddling with an inner tube.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a woman in a dark swimsuit, metal lounge chairs with striped cushions, a white poolside fixture, turquoise pool water, a red inner tube, a light swim cap, and leafy greenery behind the deck.
Film character: The clip has the soft focus, saturated pool-water color, uneven exposure, handheld framing, and fine grain associated with scanned 8mm amateur film.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, transition, or memory beat for postwar vacation, resort, summer recreation, or domestic leisure sequences.
Historical context: The scene visually documents informal poolside leisure and women’s swimwear in a postwar American vacation setting without showing identifiable landmarks or organized public events.
Research note: People are visible, including a partially seen face in the poolside frames, so likeness review may be needed separately from copyright and any property considerations.

Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with other 1949 Seaside, New Jersey material, and then with broader mid-century pool, beach, resort, and summer leisure footage.
