About 14,000 beach and coastline clips, peaking in the 1960s. This is the American shore as families filmed it, a day at the water packed into a few feet of 8mm.
Kids in the surf, umbrellas and transistor radios, boardwalks and piers, the long flat light of late afternoon on the sand. California and New York lead, almost all of it on standard 8mm, with some Super 8.

Beach footage suits summer and nostalgia campaigns, coming-of-age and travel documentaries, and period seaside scenes that need a real crowd of the era rather than a styled one. The kids-in-the-surf and boardwalk shots are the steady pulls.
The 1950s shore is dressed and a little formal, even at the water. The 1960s, the peak, loosen into bright color and bare feet. The 1970s warm and fade, with longer hair and bigger umbrellas.
