About 9,600 clips of babies and infants, spread evenly across the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. A first child often prompted the first camera, which is why so many home-movie collections open on one.
Cribs and christenings, first baths and first steps, grandparents handed the baby and the camera both. New York and California lead, almost all on standard 8mm and Super 8.
9,634 archival clips matching “Babies & Toddlers” — page 161 of 161
Baby footage suits family, parenting, and nostalgia campaigns, life-and-time documentaries, and period scenes that need a real infant of the era. The first-steps shot is the one that does the heavy lifting.
The 1950s babies are bundled and formal, shot indoors in careful light. The 1960s loosen into color and outdoor frames. The 1970s get candid, the camera closer and less fussed over.
