1980: A vintage 8mm home movie captures a family strolling along the Mendocino, California coastline with their dog. The dog, playful and curious, misjudges the size of an incoming wave, causing a moment of surprise as it splashes into the surf zone. The scene unfolds on a sunny afternoon with scattered people enjoying the beach, whitecaps breaking near rocks, and shadows stretching across the wet sand. This authentic archival footage showcases the natural beauty of the Pacific coast, with gentle currents and the rhythmic tide, offering a nostalgic glimpse into 1980s vintage and family life by the ocean.
