Big Cruise Ship Docked On River With Trees And Buildings... — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1975, this vintage home movie captures a large white cruise ship, the Sylia Line's Corona, docked on a calm river. The vessel's multi-deck structure and lifeboats are visible under a clear blue sky, with distant trees and buildings lining the shore. The footage, framed by dark borders typical of Super 8 projection, shows subtle camera movement as the ship remains stationary, evoking a sense of mid-century travel nostalgia. The warm color palette and film grain enhance its authentic retro feel.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s Swedish home-movie footage for documentary sequences needing a large passenger ship or riverfront travel insert.
Period detail: The white multi-deck ferry, lifeboats, dark projected-film borders, and saturated 8mm color support a mid-1970s leisure-travel setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot viewpoint from shore or nearby water, holding on the ship as it fills the frame without staged action.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include the ship's white hull, rows of windows, lifeboats, upper decks, blue river water, tree-lined shore, distant buildings, and dark film-frame edges.
Film character: The footage shows 8mm grain, slight exposure variation, soft focus at the frame edges, and gentle handheld movement that preserve its physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a travel cutaway, location insert, transition into ferry or cruise material, or quiet memory beat.
Historical context: The scene reflects passenger travel infrastructure in Sweden as seen by a home-movie camera, with the ship presented as the main subject rather than a public event.
Research note: Visible ship names and line markings should be reviewed for trademark or brand concerns; no people are visible, but copyright and property issues remain separate.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1975 Sweden 8mm cruise ship, vintage ferry on river, home movie passenger ship, or Silja Line vessel footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel shots, then other Sweden 1975 waterfront or ferry scenes, then broader 1970s travel and passenger-ship footage.
