Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This clip supports 1950s family vacation, lake recreation, and South Dakota leisure sequences for documentary, museum, education, or editorial productions.
Period detail: Visible era clues include 8mm color home-movie handling, mid-century swimwear, a small runabout boat, and casual lakeside vacation clothing.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in unstaged family movement as a woman and two boys gather belongings on the shore and step onto a small boat.
What appears in frame: Frames show a grassy lakeshore, wooded hills, blue water, a woman in white, two boys in swim trunks, a red motorboat, and a small American flag.
Film character: The footage has soft 8mm grain, slight color shift, bright outdoor exposure, handheld framing, and visible contact-sheet edges that reinforce its home-movie origin.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a summer memory beat, lake-vacation insert, mid-century family cutaway, or transition from shore activity to boating.
Historical context: The scene reflects a postwar-era American family leisure outing at a lake, while the exact lake and identities are not established by the visible frames.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed, and copyright, location, boat, flag, and personal-rights questions should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1950s 8mm South Dakota lake vacation, family boating home movie, vintage summer recreation, and mid-century lakeshore footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other South Dakota 1954 lake material, then broader 1950s family vacation and boating scenes.
