HAWAII-1961: A traditional Hawaiian ceremony unfolds as a large animal carcass is prepared on a bed of green leaves. A person uses tongs to ignite flames over the meat, with smoke rising and fire flickering across the scene. The footage, shot on 8mm film, captures the ritualistic preparation in vivid color with natural film grain and a slightly blue-tinted palette. Onlookers sit in the background, observing the cultural practice. This authentic home movie offers a rare glimpse into mid-century Hawaiian traditions and communal food preparation.
