Herd Of Lion Cubs And Adults Resting In The Savanna — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1969, this vintage home movie captures a pride of lion cubs and adult lions resting in a grassy savanna with scattered shrubs. The footage, likely filmed in Nigeria, shows the young lions interacting and observing their surroundings, with one cub sitting alertly in the foreground. The natural, unfiltered quality of the Super 8 film includes visible grain and slight motion blur, conveying a raw, authentic wildlife moment from the late 1960s. The warm, muted tones and handheld camera work evoke a sense of nostalgia and historical documentation.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1969 8mm wildlife footage for documentary or educational edits needing archival views of lions resting in a savanna setting.
Period detail: The frames show an 8mm home-movie look from 1969, with no visible landmarks to confirm the exact Nigerian location beyond the provided metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The handheld framing suggests a visitor or traveler observing the pride from a cautious distance rather than a staged wildlife setup.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include adult lions, several cubs, tall grass, scattered shrubs, dark film borders, and a soft wooded savanna background.
Film character: The clip has visible 8mm grain, muted color, soft focus, slight motion blur, and uneven exposure that preserve the texture of the original film scan.
Edit role: Editors could use it as a brief wildlife insert, travel-memory cutaway, or transition into a sequence about African savanna animals.
Historical context: The footage may show late-1960s tourist or field observation of lions in a grassy habitat, without enough visual evidence to identify a reserve or event.
Research note: No people, logos, or private property are visible, but users should still review copyright status and any location-related permissions before publication.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1969 8mm lion pride footage, vintage Nigerian wildlife film, lion cubs in savanna, and African home-movie animal footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other shots from the same reel, then with Nigeria 1969 wildlife material, and finally with broader vintage lion or savanna footage.
