Man Fishing From Boat On Calm Water — Clip Details

NEW YORK-1948: A vintage 8mm home movie captures a man in a patterned coat fishing from a boat on a calm body of water. The clip opens with a distant view of a small motorboat speeding across the water, leaving a white wake, with a shoreline visible in the background. The perspective then shifts to a close-up of the fisherman, seen in profile, holding a fishing rod as the boat moves through the blue water. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 film grain, color shifts, and a slightly faded quality, evoking a nostalgic 1940s Americana holiday memory.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s New York leisure, boating, fishing, and home-movie inserts in documentary, museum, education, or editorial productions.
Period detail: The man's patterned coat, small boat setting, and faded 8mm color may show late-1940s recreational dress and waterfront travel in New York.
Home-movie behavior: The footage preserves an unstaged boating moment, shifting from a passing motorboat to a companion fishing in profile from the moving craft.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include open blue water, a distant shoreline, a small motorboat wake, a man in profile, a fishing rod, boat hardware, and foamy water.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm color, visible grain, slight exposure fluctuation, and handheld framing that read as authentic physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a waterfront cutaway, leisure insert, travel transition, or intimate memory beat within a 1940s recreation sequence.
Historical context: The scene offers visual context for mid-century boating and fishing as casual personal recreation, without identifying a specific waterway or event.
Research note: One adult face is visible in profile, so likeness review may be needed; no logos, minors, private property, or audible music are apparent from supplied metadata.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1948 New York 8mm home movie boating, man fishing from boat, vintage waterfront leisure, and 1940s recreational fishing footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then other 1948 New York waterfront material, then broader 1940s boating or fishing home movies.
