Mansion At The Edge Of The Sea Surrounded By Palm Trees — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1948, this vintage home movie captures a sun-drenched coastal view from a boat or pier. A large, light-colored mansion sits at the edge of the sea, surrounded by lush palm trees and tropical foliage under a bright blue sky. The footage shows gentle water movement and a steady, slightly wobbly perspective, characteristic of handheld Super 8 film. The warm, slightly faded color palette and visible film grain evoke a nostalgic, mid-century American vacation memory.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1940s coastal home-movie footage for editors needing a brief tropical waterfront estate view from the New York-labeled reel.
Period detail: The light-toned seaside mansion, palms, blue water, and color 8mm stock may show mid-century vacation or resort-area surroundings.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries a visitor-shot boat or pier perspective, with the camera lingering across the water rather than staging an event.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include blue sea, distant pale buildings, palm trees, shoreline vegetation, a small waterfront structure, sky, clouds, and film gate borders.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, visible grain, slight weave, faded color, and handheld steadiness that preserve its physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short cutaway, travel transition, coastal memory beat, or establishing insert before more specific reel material.
Historical context: The view suggests leisure travel or waterfront residence imagery, but the frames do not identify the exact property or social setting.
Research note: No people, logos, or audible music are indicated, but copyright, location identification, and any recognizable property issues still need separate review.
Research search match: Useful search phrasing includes 1948 8mm coastal mansion, vintage home movie palm trees by sea, and New York-labeled waterfront estate footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with confirmed New York 1948 coastal material, then with broader vintage seaside estate views.
