Palm Trees And Houses At Waterfront With Lounge Chairs — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1948, this vintage home movie captures a serene tropical waterfront scene from a boat. Lush palm trees line a sandy shore where a pink house with a white roof sits atop a grassy hill. White lounge chairs are arranged on the beach, suggesting a quiet vacation moment. The footage shows gentle water movement and a slightly shaky, handheld camera perspective, with the dark frame edges indicating a home movie viewing experience. The color palette features faded blues, greens, and pinks typical of 1940s film stock.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s archival requests needing tropical waterfront vacation atmosphere, shoreline scenery, or quiet establishing cutaways from home-movie footage.
Period detail: The clip may show late-1940s resort or residential waterfront details, including low modern buildings, white lounge chairs, palm-lined sand, and saturated 8mm color.
Home-movie behavior: The viewpoint feels visitor-shot from a moving boat, holding on the beach and houses without staged action or visible people.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include rippling blue water, pale sand, palm trees, grassy banks, white lounge chairs, pink-toned waterfront buildings, and dark film-frame edges.
Film character: The footage has 8mm grain, soft focus, slight handheld drift, color fading, and dark gate edges that give it clear physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief establishing insert, travel-memory transition, resort shoreline cutaway, or calm pause between busier vacation scenes.
Historical context: The scene suggests mid-century leisure travel or waterfront residence culture, but the frames do not identify a specific resort, town, or event.
Research note: No people, logos, or readable marks are visible, but copyright, location identification, and any property-related permissions should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1948 8mm tropical waterfront, vintage home movie palm trees beach chairs, mid-century shoreline house, and boat-view vacation footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with New York 1948 waterfront material, then with broader vintage beach, boating, and resort themes.
