People Relaxing at Poolside Resort in Summer — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1961, this vintage home movie captures a sun-drenched day at a Los Angeles poolside resort. People relax on lounge chairs under a red-and-white striped awning, some shaded by umbrellas, while others enjoy the heat. A man in swim trunks walks near the pool, and a woman in sunglasses lounges in the foreground. The footage shows classic mid-century leisure, with period clothing and a stone wall backdrop, all rendered in the warm, grainy aesthetic of Super 8 film. Ideal for documentaries, nostalgic content, or historical projects.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Los Angeles home-movie poolside leisure footage for documentary inserts about summer heat, vacation culture, resort recreation, or mid-century outdoor social life.
Period detail: The striped awning, metal lounge chairs, swimsuits, umbrellas, and low modern building may show early-1960s resort or apartment-pool styling in Southern California.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged visitor viewpoint, watching people rest, walk, and sunbathe around a pool area rather than posing for the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include striped shade awnings, lounge chairs, railings, a stone wall, umbrellas, trees, a modern low-rise building, and several adults in swimwear or summer clothing.
Film character: The 8mm image carries soft focus, visible grain, warm fading, slight gate edges, and handheld framing that give the footage a physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, transition, or memory beat for 1960s heat, vacation, poolside leisure, or Southern California lifestyle sequences.
Historical context: The footage documents casual outdoor recreation and sunbathing at a built poolside setting, reflecting mid-century leisure scenes without identifying the specific venue.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos are apparent, and copyright status is separate from any personal or property permissions.
Research search match: Search matches include 1961 Los Angeles poolside home movie, 8mm Southern California resort leisure, 1960s summer heat footage, and vintage sunbathing scene.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1961 Los Angeles leisure footage, then broader 1960s pool, beach, heatwave, and vacation material.
