Lions Lying On Large Flat Rock In Green Grassland — Clip Details

SUDAN-1969: Two lions rest on a large flat rock in a grassy enclosure, their golden fur contrasting with the green landscape. Shot on 8mm film, this vintage home movie captures the animals lying calmly, occasionally twitching ears and tails. The footage shows natural behavior in a zoo-like setting, with rocks and sparse vegetation in the background. The grainy, color-graded quality reflects 1960s home movie aesthetics, offering authentic archival footage for documentaries, wildlife projects, or nostalgic content.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm footage for productions needing a brief wildlife or zoo-like cutaway of lions resting in Sudan-associated home-movie material.
Period detail: The soft color, grain, rounded frame edges and contact-print feel support a late-1960s amateur 8mm origin, while the enclosure itself has few date-specific clues.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries a visitor-shot perspective, observing the animals quietly from a fixed distance rather than staging action for the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible details include two lions, a broad flat rock, green grass, scattered stones, bare branches, dark frame borders and slight animal tail or ear movement.
Film character: The scan shows 8mm grain, muted color, uneven exposure, soft focus and slight gate framing that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short wildlife insert, observational pause, zoo visit cutaway or calm transition within travel, animal or memory sequences.
Historical context: The scene appears to show lions resting in a managed or enclosed grassy setting, offering visual context for animal viewing in archival travel footage.
Research note: No people, logos or audible music are indicated, but copyright, animal-location context and any property or institution permissions should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1969 Sudan 8mm lions, vintage home movie lions resting, zoo-like wildlife enclosure footage and African travel animal cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then Sudan 1969 travel material, then broader vintage wildlife, zoo visit or big-cat resting footage.
