Women In Swimsuits Waving From Parade Floats On A Sunny Day — Clip Details

A vibrant 1952 California parade captured on 8mm film, featuring women in retro swimsuits waving from elaborately decorated floats. The first float displays a large globe with 'Catalina Swim Suit' lettering, while subsequent floats highlight a Costa Rica theme with colorful flags and a woman in a yellow swimsuit. The footage shows a sunny day with crowds lining the street, classic mid-century architecture, and the warm, slightly faded color palette characteristic of vintage home movies. The camera remains mostly static, capturing the festive atmosphere and nostalgic charm of a 1950s community celebration.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s California parade sequences, mid-century swimsuit promotion, community celebration context, or documentary cutaways needing brief color home-movie street footage.
Period detail: The frames show 1950s color home-movie footage with swimsuits, parade floats, pennant flags, crowd-lined streets, and mid-century commercial buildings in California.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the casual spectator viewpoint as women on floats wave toward the street crowd and camera during a sunny public parade.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include swimsuit-clad women, decorated parade floats, a large globe sign, Costa Rica-themed float details, colorful pennants, street crowds, and mid-century buildings.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, visible grain, warm faded color, slight gate edges, and a mostly static home-movie camera position that preserves the period texture.
Edit role: Editors could use this as a quick insert, transition, or memory beat for 1950s leisure culture, public festivities, swimwear promotion, or California street life.
Historical context: The clip reflects a public parade setting where women in swimsuits appear as featured float participants before a crowd, with visible commercial signage requiring cautious identification.
Research note: People and faces are visible, and brand or sponsor wording appears on floats, so copyright, trademark, publicity, and likeness considerations should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Searches this may match include 1952 California parade home movie, 8mm swimsuit parade float, Catalina swimsuit float, Costa Rica themed parade float, and 1950s women waving.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1952 California parade material, then broader 1950s community parade, swimwear, and street celebration footage.
