A White Dog In A Life Vest Rides A Small Motorboat In A... — Clip Details

A white dog wearing a life vest rides a small red motorized boat across a swimming pool in this 1962 California home movie. Shot on 8mm film, the footage captures the dog navigating the water with a person standing poolside, likely supervising. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s California leisure, novelty animal, swimming pool, and home-movie recreation sequences in documentary, education, or commercial edits.
Period detail: The scene may show mid-century poolside recreation, with a small novelty motorboat, bright outdoor deck, casual clothing, and soft 8mm color consistent with the 1962 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has the feel of a family or visitor recording an amusing pet stunt, with poolside adults watching as the dog rides across the water.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a white dog in a red miniature boat, blue swimming pool water, pale pool deck, standing adults, poolside equipment, and strong sunlight.
Film character: The clip carries 8mm home-movie texture through soft focus, visible grain, slight fading, uneven exposure, and contact-sheet edge darkness.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short comic insert, leisure cutaway, pet memory beat, or transition into mid-century recreation and poolside scenes.
Historical context: The clip documents an informal amusement around a private or recreational pool, showing how home movies preserved playful everyday leisure rather than formal events.
Research note: People are visible at a distance, so likeness review may be needed, while no visible logos are apparent and copyright clearance remains separate from likeness or property concerns.
Research search match: Researchers might search for 1962 California home movie dog in boat, 8mm swimming pool pet footage, vintage poolside recreation, or funny animal home movie.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with same-reel pool or family leisure footage, then other 1962 California outdoor scenes, then broader vintage pet, recreation, and swimming pool material.
