Lion and Cubs in Grassy Savanna — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1974, this vintage home movie captures a lion and cubs in a grassy savanna, viewed through a dark frame suggesting a vehicle window. The footage shows the lion family moving across the open plain, with the cubs following the adult lion. The scene is bathed in natural light with a muted color palette typical of 1970s film, featuring visible grain and a slightly soft focus. This authentic wildlife moment offers a nostalgic glimpse of African wildlife from a private collection.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s archive requests needing visitor-shot wildlife footage of lions and cubs in a grassland enclosure or safari-park setting.
Period detail: The soft 8mm color, dark window-like framing, and muted exposure support a 1970s home-movie feel without showing identifiable landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries the unstaged value of a viewer filming from behind a dark vehicle or viewing-frame edge as the lion family moves across the grass.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include an adult male lion, several cubs, dry grass, open rolling ground, sparse tree trunks, and dark vertical framing bars.
Film character: The footage has visible 8mm grain, soft focus, muted color, and slight exposure variation that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a wildlife cutaway, travel-memory insert, or brief transition into a 1970s family-visit or safari-park sequence.
Historical context: The scene reflects a period home-movie encounter with captive or managed wildlife, though the frames do not identify the facility or exact setting.
Research note: No people, logos, or readable marks are visible, but copyright licensing is separate from any facility, animal-exhibit, or location-related permissions.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1974 8mm lion cub footage, 1970s safari park home movie, lion family in grass, and vintage wildlife film.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Irvine 1974 wildlife material, then broader 1970s home-movie animal footage.
