Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s Japan archive requests needing brief documentary or editorial footage of martial arts practice on 8mm film.
Period detail: The plain training room, white gi, belt ranks and black-and-white 8mm texture support the supplied 1971 Tokyo martial arts context.
Home-movie behavior: The scene has the feel of a filmed demonstration, with two practitioners moving through a throw for the camera rather than a staged performance set.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two adult men in gi, dark belts, padded floor mats, a bare wall, soft focus, film grain and frame-edge shadows.
Film character: The clip carries authentic 8mm character through monochrome grain, soft focus, slight exposure variation and visible contact-sheet frame borders.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, cutaway or transition beat for martial arts training, Japanese recreation or home-movie practice sequences.
Historical context: The footage visually documents a small martial arts demonstration in an indoor training space without showing identifiable landmarks or public events.
Research note: Adult faces are visible, so licensing review should consider likeness rights separately from copyright and any location or release documentation.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1971 Tokyo martial arts 8mm, Japan karate demonstration home movie, judo or karate throw practice, and vintage dojo footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then other Tokyo 1971 material, then broader Japanese martial arts or recreational training clips.
