Tokyo Japan-1971: Martial Artists Perform Judo Throw In Dojo

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Useful for 1971 Tokyo archival requests needing concise 8mm footage of judo practice, martial arts instruction, or disciplined athletic movement in a dojo setting.

Period detail

The black-and-white 8mm look, white gi, belts, plain wall, and tatami-style matting support an early 1970s martial arts practice setting in Tokyo as described by the source metadata.

Home-movie behavior

The static home-movie camera observes a brief practice demonstration without staging for the lens, preserving the lift, throw, landing, and reset as ordinary training behavior.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include two adult martial artists, white gi, dark belts, bare feet, tatami-style mats, a plain dojo wall, and a fixed camera view across the practice floor.

Film character

The clip has grainy monochrome 8mm texture, soft focus, mild gate shadowing, and steady framing that reads as physical-film documentation of a short practice action.

Edit role

An editor could use it as an insert or cutaway for Japanese martial arts, sports discipline, dojo training, physical technique, or a memory beat about 1970s recreation.

Historical context

The footage visually documents judo-style practice in a simple indoor training space, showing paired technique and controlled falling without broader claims about the school or event.

Research note

People are visible and likeness review may be needed; no logos, brands, music, or private property are apparent, but copyright and location permissions should be assessed separately.
