Water Lilies And Purple Flower On A Pond — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1958, this vintage home movie captures a tranquil pond scene in South Carolina. Lush green lily pads float on dark water, with a single purple water lily in bloom. Silhouetted reeds and foliage frame the edges, creating a moody, reflective atmosphere. The footage shows natural movement of the lily pads and subtle ripples, with a soft, grainy texture characteristic of Super 8 film. This archival clip evokes nostalgia and is ideal for historical documentaries, nature projects, or retro-themed content.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s South Carolina home-movie nature footage for editors needing a quiet pond cutaway, seasonal transition, or reflective archival insert.
Period detail: The frames show no dateable human-made details, so the 1958 period context comes from the clip metadata rather than visible objects.
Home-movie behavior: The camera observes the pond from a still, informal home-movie viewpoint, lingering on lily pads and a single purple bloom without staged action.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include green lily pads, one purple water lily, dark reflective water, silhouetted reeds, overhanging foliage, and small surface highlights.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, deep exposure, visible grain, slight frame variation, and a subdued color palette that reads as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a nature cutaway, reflective pause, memory beat, or visual bridge within a South Carolina or 1950s home-movie sequence.
Historical context: The clip documents a domestic or travel-camera view of pond vegetation, with no visible people, buildings, signage, or identifiable public event.
Research note: No people, logos, or private structures are visible, but copyright status and any location-based property questions should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1958 8mm pond lilies, South Carolina home movie water lily, vintage lily pads, and 1950s reflective pond footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1958 South Carolina material, then broader pond, garden, water, or nature cutaways.
