Blue Parrot Eating Bug on Grass at Busch Gardens — Clip Details

A vibrant blue parrot pecks at a bug on a sunlit grassy lawn in this 1958 Florida home movie. The footage, shot on 8mm film, captures the bird's detailed plumage and natural behavior in a quiet outdoor setting. A man in light-colored clothing stands near a sign reading 'Busch Gardens' in the background, suggesting a zoo or wildlife park. The warm, slightly faded colors and film grain evoke a nostalgic, authentic mid-century American family outing.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s Florida travel, zoo, attraction, or home-movie sequences needing a short wildlife behavior cutaway from 8mm footage.
Period detail: The 1958 dating and Florida location are supported by the clip metadata, while the visible frames show a blue parrot on grass in a visitor-style outdoor setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries the unstaged feel of a family outing, observing the bird from a modest distance as it pecks at something in the lawn.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a blue parrot, grassy lawn, small prey or debris near the beak, strong side shadow, soft focus, and dark film-frame borders.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows pronounced grain, gentle softness, saturated blue plumage, uneven exposure, and contact-sheet edge artifacts typical of physical home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, nature cutaway, attraction detail, or quiet memory beat within a Florida travel or mid-century family sequence.
Historical context: The footage may reflect mid-century leisure travel and wildlife display culture, but the frames themselves only confirm a close view of a parrot on grass.
Research note: Rights review should consider the reported Busch Gardens signage and any visible people elsewhere in the clip, with separate checks for copyright, trademark, likeness, and location issues.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1958 Florida 8mm parrot footage, blue parrot eating bug, Busch Gardens home movie, and mid-century attraction wildlife cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1958 Florida or Busch Gardens material, then broader zoo, bird, and family travel footage.
