Women Playing Table Ping-Pong — Clip Details

A vintage 8mm home movie from Wheeling Ohio in 1957 captures a lively game of table tennis in a basement setting. Three women are engaged in the game, with one in a bright red sweater and gray skirt seen from behind, while two others in dark and light dresses play across the table. The scene unfolds against a cinder block wall under warm, dim lighting, with a single overhead bulb casting a soft glow. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 film grain and slight motion blur, evoking a nostalgic, candid moment of mid-century social recreation.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1950s 8mm home-movie footage for productions needing a domestic recreation scene, women playing table tennis, or mid-century social activity in Wheeling, Ohio.
Period detail: The clothing, basement cinder block wall, simple table tennis setup, and warm overhead bulb support a late-1950s home recreation setting.
Home-movie behavior: The camera watches casually from behind one player, preserving an unstaged basement game among women rather than a posed family portrait.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include three women, a table tennis table, paddles, a cinder block wall, an overhead bulb, dark basement surroundings, and a player in a red sweater.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, visible grain, warm dim exposure, slight motion blur, and contact-sheet framing that suit archival home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, memory beat, or transition for mid-century leisure, women’s social life, or home recreation.
Historical context: The clip documents informal indoor recreation in a private basement, with women participating in a casual table tennis game in a domestic setting.
Research note: People and a private interior are visible, so likeness and property considerations should be reviewed separately from any copyright assessment.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1950s women playing ping-pong, Wheeling Ohio home movie, 8mm basement recreation, and vintage table tennis footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then other 1957 Wheeling home-movie scenes, then broader 1950s indoor recreation footage.
