View Of Alligator Feeding Frenzy In Stone Enclosure — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1967, this vintage home movie captures a view of alligators in a stone enclosure at Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The footage shows several large alligators resting and moving in a sunlit, water-filled habitat bordered by a brick wall and wooden posts. A wire fence is visible in the foreground, suggesting a zoo or wildlife park setting. The warm, slightly faded color palette and film grain are characteristic of Super 8 home movies from the era. The scene conveys a quiet, observational moment of wildlife in captivity, with natural light reflecting off the water and highlighting the reptiles' textured skin.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s documentary or educational edits needing visitor-shot wildlife park footage of alligators in captivity in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Period detail: The 8mm color, brick enclosure wall, wooden posts, wire fencing, and visitor viewing angle support a late-1960s home-movie record of a managed animal habitat.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries an unstaged visitor viewpoint, observing the alligators from behind a fence rather than presenting a staged wildlife sequence.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include several alligators, shallow reflective water, a brick or stone enclosure wall, wooden posts, wire fencing, sunlit pavement, and deep shade.
Film character: The footage has warm faded color, visible grain, uneven exposure, and handheld framing typical of small-gauge home movies scanned from physical film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, wildlife insert, captivity context shot, or transitional memory beat in a Florida travel or animal-attraction sequence.
Historical context: The scene documents mid-century public viewing of large reptiles in an enclosed outdoor habitat without making claims about the exact facility shown.
Research note: No people, faces, logos, or brands are visible, but location, copyright, and any property or facility permissions should still be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1967 Fort Lauderdale alligator enclosure, 8mm Florida wildlife park footage, and 1960s home movie alligators in captivity.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then with Fort Lauderdale or Florida 1967 travel scenes, then with broader wildlife park or captive animal material.
