Soldiers in Red Coats and Bearskin Hats at Military Parade — Clip Details

QUEBEC-1938: A vintage 8mm home movie captures a formal military parade in front of a large stone building. Soldiers in bright red coats and tall black bearskin hats stand in precise formation, holding rifles. A classic 1930s automobile is parked nearby as a commanding officer walks across the courtyard. The footage shows natural film grain, slight color fading, and a handheld perspective, conveying a sense of historical ceremony and disciplined order from the late 1930s.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1930s Quebec military parade footage for documentaries needing concise archival views of ceremonial soldiers and period public display.
Period detail: The red tunics, tall dark bearskin-style hats, rifles, stone building, and 1930s automobile support a late-1930s Canadian parade setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot home-movie perspective, watching the formation from across a courtyard as bystanders and a passing figure enter the frame.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include soldiers in red coats, tall dark hats, rifles, a stone building, a cobbled or paved courtyard, grass, a 1930s car, and bystanders.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, color fading, gate edges, uneven exposure, and handheld framing that give it period home-movie texture.
Edit role: Editors could use it as a short insert, cutaway, or transition beat for prewar Canada, ceremonial military display, or travel-memory sequences.
Historical context: The footage shows formal military pageantry observed in a public outdoor setting, without enough visual evidence to identify a specific unit or event.
Research note: People and military uniforms are visible, so copyright, likeness, and any location or institutional identification should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1938 Quebec 8mm military parade, Canadian soldiers red coats, bearskin hats, rifles in formation, and vintage home movie ceremony.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other Quebec 1938 scenes, then broader 1930s Canadian military, parade, travel, or public-ceremony footage.
