Woman In A One Piece Bathing Suit Running Across A Pier — Clip Details

A woman in a one-piece bathing suit runs across a wooden pier toward a floating dock on a calm lake, captured on 8mm film in 1938. The grainy black-and-white footage shows her mid-stride, with towels and swimwear scattered on the dock. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1930s New Jersey home-movie footage suited to requests for lakeside leisure, summer recreation, or women’s swimwear inserts in documentary and education edits.
Period detail: The one-piece bathing suit, wooden pier, floating dock, and black-and-white 8mm image may show a late-1930s private or community lakeside swimming setting.
Home-movie behavior: The woman’s quick run down the pier gives the clip an unstaged family-film feeling, with the camera holding from a fixed, casual vantage point.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a woman in a dark one-piece swimsuit, a narrow wooden pier, a floating dock, scattered towels or clothing, calm lake water, and dark film borders.
Film character: The scan carries strong 8mm texture, with soft focus, visible grain, uneven exposure, gate edges, and a brief transition into near-black frames.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short summer recreation insert, a memory beat, or a transition from active lakeside movement into a reel-end fade.
Historical context: The scene documents informal waterside recreation and women’s swimwear in a home-movie context, without enough visual evidence to identify the specific lake or property.
Research note: One adult figure is visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos, children, audible music, or clearly identifiable private property are visible in the supplied frames.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1930s New Jersey lake swimming, 8mm home movie woman swimsuit pier, vintage bathing suit dock footage, and prewar summer recreation film.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1938 New Jersey footage, then broader lakeside swimming, pier, dock, and vintage swimsuit scenes.
