Women In Swimwear Sitting By Lake Smoking Cigarette — Clip Details

NEW JERSEY-1938: A vintage 8mm home movie captures two women in period swimwear sitting on a rocky lakeshore. One woman, wearing a black swimsuit, smokes a cigarette while the other, in a light-colored suit, sits beside her. The grainy black-and-white footage shows them relaxing near the water's edge, surrounded by scattered debris and driftwood. The scene exudes a nostalgic, candid atmosphere from the late 1930s, with natural lighting and the characteristic look of home movie film.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1930s New Jersey home-movie footage for requests needing candid lakeside leisure, women in period swimwear, or smoking behavior in an outdoor summer setting.
Period detail: The swimwear cuts, cigarette, rocky lakeshore, and black-and-white 8mm texture may show late-1930s leisure dress and informal vacation behavior.
Home-movie behavior: The women appear relaxed and aware of the camera, with one seated by the water and another turning while smoking, giving the clip candid social value.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two women in swimsuits, a cigarette, rocky shoreline, lake water, scattered boards or driftwood, and strong film-frame borders.
Film character: The footage has pronounced 8mm grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, visible gate edges, and a contact-sheet view that emphasizes its home-movie origin.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, memory beat, or cutaway for lakeside recreation, women's leisure, smoking, or prewar family-film atmosphere.
Historical context: The scene documents informal outdoor leisure and women in swimwear at a lakeshore, without enough visual evidence to identify the specific lake or people.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos, brands, audible music, or private property are apparent from the supplied frames.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1930s New Jersey lake home movie, women in vintage swimsuits, 8mm lakeshore smoking, and prewar outdoor leisure footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then with New Jersey 1938 material, then with broader 1930s swimming, lakeside recreation, and candid leisure scenes.
