Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1930s New Jersey home-movie requests needing lakeside recreation, swimming, paddling, or quiet summer leisure cutaways.
Period detail: The swimwear, wooden dock or float, small boats, and black-and-white 8mm texture may show late-1930s recreational lake life.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has unstaged vacation value, with people sitting, paddling, and resting by the water rather than posing formally for the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include lake water, distant shoreline, small boats, a dock or float, a man in dark shorts, a person seated near the water, and a towel-covered figure.
Film character: The scan shows dense 8mm grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, frame-edge shadowing, and handheld framing that preserve the home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, transition, or memory beat for summer recreation, family lake trips, or prewar leisure atmosphere.
Historical context: The clip reflects informal outdoor recreation at a lake, with bathing suits and simple watercraft suggesting everyday leisure rather than an organized event.
Research note: People are visible and some faces or bodies may be identifiable, so likeness review may be needed separate from copyright or location assessment.
Research search match: Search matches include 1938 New Jersey 8mm lake footage, 1930s home movie swimming, man paddling on lake, and vintage lakeside recreation.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel lake scenes, then other New Jersey 1938 footage, then broader 1930s summer swimming or boating material.
