A Beautiful Stately Home Made Of Red Brick With White... — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1938, this vintage home movie captures a stately red brick mansion in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The clip reveals classical architecture with prominent white columns supporting a grand portico and a triangular pediment. The footage exhibits a strong purple color cast, likely from film aging or lighting conditions, with visible grain and slight camera shake. The camera pans slowly across the facade, highlighting the building's elegant design and imposing presence.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1930s Atlantic City atmosphere, residential architecture references, or documentary cutaways needing archival 8mm exterior home-movie footage.
Period detail: The brick facade, columned portico, shutters, arched doorway, and triangular pediment may show early twentieth-century classical residential architecture filmed in 1938.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot viewpoint, with a slow handheld look at the front of a stately house rather than staged activity.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a red brick facade, white columns, dark shutters, arched entry, pediment, steps, tree shade, and adjacent building edges.
Film character: The 8mm scan carries dense grain, a strong purple-blue color shift, soft focus, uneven exposure, and slight handheld movement as physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as an establishing insert, architectural cutaway, memory beat, or transition within a 1930s travel or domestic-history sequence.
Historical context: The footage gives visual context for affluent residential architecture in Atlantic City without identifying the building as a specific landmark.
Research note: No people, logos, or brands are visible, but building identity and property-related permissions should be reviewed separately from copyright status.
Research search match: Search matches include 1938 Atlantic City 8mm mansion exterior, red brick house with white columns, and 1930s New Jersey home movie architecture.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other Atlantic City 1938 exteriors, then comparable 1930s residential architecture and travel-home-movie shots.
