Martial Arts Practice With Throw And Kick — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1966, this vintage home movie captures two men in white martial arts uniforms practicing techniques indoors. One man, wearing a black belt, demonstrates a move on his partner, who is then thrown to the floor. The footage shows a person lying on the ground, followed by a dynamic kick in the air, all under a distinct purple color cast typical of aged film. The setting appears to be a simple room with a refrigerator in the background, evoking a sense of authentic 1960s amateur martial arts training.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s documentary or educational edits needing real 8mm home-movie footage of indoor martial arts practice in Southern California.
Period detail: The white uniforms, black belt, simple interior room, and 8mm color stock may show amateur martial arts training culture in the mid-1960s.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged practice moment as two adults demonstrate throws, floor work, and a high kick for the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two white martial arts uniforms, a black uniform, a belt, an indoor floor, a refrigerator, wall notes, and handheld framing.
Film character: The footage has a strong purple-blue color shift, soft focus, visible grain, uneven exposure, and brief motion blur typical of aged 8mm home movies.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short action insert, memory beat, or cutaway for martial arts training, amateur athletics, or 1960s home-movie texture.
Historical context: The footage offers visual context for small-scale indoor practice rather than a formal tournament or public demonstration.
Research note: People and a private interior are visible, so likeness and property review may be needed in addition to any copyright assessment.
Research search match: Research matches include 1966 8mm martial arts practice, Temple City home movie, indoor judo or karate training, throw demonstration, and vintage kick footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then other Temple City 1966 home movies, then broader 1960s martial arts or amateur sports footage.
