Coastal Village View From Window Over Ocean — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures a sun-drenched coastal village in Izmir, Turkey. Viewed through a window frame, the scene reveals white-washed houses with terracotta roofs nestled along the shoreline, overlooking a deep blue ocean under a hazy sky. A distant minaret rises above the rooftops, adding a cultural landmark to the tranquil Mediterranean landscape. The footage shows natural film grain, slight color fading, and vertical scratches, preserving the authentic look of a classic 1960s home movie. This archival clip evokes a sense of peaceful nostalgia and everyday life by the sea.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Izmir coastal home-movie footage suited to documentary, museum, education, or editorial sequences needing an exterior village-and-sea establishing view.
Period detail: The terracotta roofs, whitewashed low houses, unpaved-looking ground, and distant minaret may show mid-century coastal settlement details in Izmir.
Home-movie behavior: The view is filmed from behind a dark window or doorway frame, giving the scene a casual visitor-shot perspective rather than a staged scenic composition.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include coastal houses, terracotta roofs, a blue sea horizon, hazy sky, pale ground, dark window framing, and a distant slender minaret-like structure.
Film character: The scan shows 8mm home-movie texture with soft focus, visible grain, mild color fading, vertical scratches, gate edges, and slightly uneven exposure.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief establishing insert, travel-memory transition, coastal cutaway, or quiet visual pause between Izmir home-movie scenes.
Historical context: The clip provides visual context for everyday coastal surroundings in Izmir without showing identifiable people, activity, signage, or a named landmark.
Research note: No people, logos, or audible music are indicated, but visible private houses and location identity should still be reviewed separately from copyright status.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1962 Izmir 8mm coastal village, Turkey home movie sea view, Mediterranean rooftops from window, and vintage shoreline cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other shots from the same reel, then Izmir or Turkey footage from 1962, then broader 1960s coastal village and sea-view home movies.
