A Red-Tinted Mountain Landscape Reflected in a Lake — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1967, this vintage home movie captures a surreal, monochromatic landscape bathed in deep red and magenta tones. A mountain range silhouettes against a hazy sky, its reflection mirrored perfectly in a still lake below. The image exhibits classic Super 8 film grain, scratches, and slight color distortion, suggesting a hand-held, personal recording. The scene evokes a dreamlike, nostalgic atmosphere, possibly from a family trip to Yellowstone. This archival footage is ideal for documentaries, editorial content, or nostalgic projects exploring mid-century Americana and vintage film aesthetics.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s archival productions needing a brief Yellowstone travel landscape, mountain reflection, or color-shifted home-movie cutaway.
Period detail: The supplied 1967 8mm context and visible color shift may show mid-century amateur travel footage rather than a formally composed scenic film.
Home-movie behavior: The static visitor-shot view preserves an unstaged travel memory of mountains, water, and sky from a personal Yellowstone trip.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a dark mountain ridge, still lake reflection, low tree line, hazy sky, red-magenta cast, grain, and small film marks.
Film character: Heavy red-magenta fading, soft focus, grain, and surface scratches give the 8mm footage a strongly aged physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, dreamlike transition, landscape insert, or memory beat within a travel or archive sequence.
Historical context: As supplied, the clip places a 1967 home-movie view in Yellowstone, showing how travelers recorded dramatic western scenery on small-gauge film.
Research note: No people, logos, or private property are visible, but users should still review copyright, source rights, and location-use needs for the project.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1967 Yellowstone 8mm home movie, red tinted mountain lake reflection, and vintage Wyoming travel landscape footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with neighboring reel shots, then other Yellowstone or Wyoming 1967 footage, then broader 1960s family travel landscapes.
