Red-Tinted Mountain Landscape — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1967, this vintage home movie captures a striking, reddish-tinted landscape of Yellowstone Wyoming. The footage features a vast, arid plain stretching toward a dramatic mountain range under a hazy sky, rendered in a distinctive monochromatic red filter. The image is grainy and slightly out of focus, characteristic of Super 8 home movie footage from the era. The camera remains steady, offering a contemplative view of the natural scenery, evoking a sense of nostalgia and historical Americana.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s 8mm home-movie landscape footage for documentary inserts needing a brief Yellowstone-region mountain and plain view with strong red film coloration.
Period detail: The frames may show a 1967 visitor-shot view of open Wyoming terrain, with era evidence mainly from the source film date, 8mm format, grain, and faded color response.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries the value of an unstaged travel-film observation, holding on a distant mountain range from a roadside or overlook perspective without people or performance.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a broad arid plain, low brush, distant water or pale ground bands, a dark treeline, hazy mountain peaks, red color cast, grain, and soft focus.
Film character: The 8mm scan has heavy red fading, visible grain, low contrast, soft focus, and steady framing that give the landscape a tactile home-movie archive texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short cutaway, memory beat, transition, or atmospheric insert within a sequence about Yellowstone, Wyoming travel, western landscapes, or faded home movies.
Historical context: The clip visually reflects midcentury recreational travel documentation, presenting the landscape as a quiet scenic record rather than a narrated or event-specific scene.
Research note: No people, logos, brands, or private property are visible, but users should still review copyright status and any location or land-use considerations separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1967 8mm Yellowstone landscape, red-tinted Wyoming mountains, vintage home movie western plain, and faded color travel footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1967 Yellowstone or Wyoming footage, then broader vintage western landscape and road-trip material.
