A Moose Wades Through River And Forest Road — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1967, this vintage home movie captures a moose wading through a river in Yellowstone, its massive form partially submerged in the water. The footage, bathed in a distinct red tint likely from film degradation, shows the animal moving slowly through the current. The scene transitions to a scenic forest road flanked by pine trees, leading toward distant mountains under a hazy sky. The grainy texture and color shift are characteristic of Super 8 home movies from the era, offering authentic archival footage for documentaries, nature projects, or nostalgic content.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports 1960s archival requests for Yellowstone wildlife, park travel, forest-road atmosphere, and nature documentary cutaways from real 8mm home-movie footage.
Period detail: The frames may show 1967 visitor-shot Yellowstone scenes, with a moose in shallow water followed by a pine-lined road toward distant mountains.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has the observational feel of a traveler pausing on wildlife and scenery rather than a staged nature setup.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a moose in water, rippled river surface, dark pine forest, a narrow road or river corridor, distant mountains, hazy sky, and red-shifted film color.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows heavy red color shift, soft focus, visible grain, uneven exposure, and a handheld home-movie texture useful as physical-film evidence.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief wildlife insert, Yellowstone travel transition, scenic cutaway, or memory beat between broader park or road-trip scenes.
Historical context: The clip reflects mid-1960s leisure travel imagery through a private camera, emphasizing wildlife encounter and landscape viewing without visible people or signage.
Research note: No people, logos, or obvious private property are visible, but users should still assess copyright, location permissions, and wildlife-use context for their project.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1967 Yellowstone moose 8mm footage, vintage Wyoming wildlife home movie, red-tinted park travel film, and forest road mountain cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then other 1967 Yellowstone or Wyoming travel footage, then broader 1960s wildlife, forest-road, and national-park scenes.
