Norris Geyser Basin Extremely Old Footage Three — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1967, this vintage home movie captures the Norris Geyser Basin in Yellowstone Wyoming. The footage features a distinct red color cast, likely due to film degradation or filter effects, with grainy texture and soft focus typical of Super 8 home movies. The sequence includes silhouetted tree branches against a hazy sky, a close-up of a sign reading "NORRIS GEYSER BASIN," and a wide, blurry view of the geothermal landscape. This archival clip evokes a nostalgic, retro feel, perfect for historical documentaries, nature projects, or vintage-themed content.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports 1960s documentary or educational requests for visitor-shot Yellowstone geothermal landscape footage from an 8mm home-movie source.
Period detail: The Norris Geyser Basin sign and red-faded 8mm appearance place the scene in a mid-century park visit, with 1967 supported by the supplied clip metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries a visitor-shot perspective, moving from trees to park signage and a distant geothermal view without staged action or narration.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include silhouetted trees, hazy sky, the Norris Geyser Basin sign, reddish film wash, soft landscape forms, and geothermal steam or haze.
Film character: The footage has heavy red color shift, visible grain, soft focus, and handheld 8mm exposure that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief location insert, memory beat, travel transition, or archival cutaway for Yellowstone and geothermal landscape sequences.
Historical context: The images document a private travel view of a public national park site, emphasizing signage and landscape rather than people or organized activity.
Research note: No people are visible, but the park sign and federally managed location may still require copyright, trademark, location, and editorial-use review.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1967 8mm Yellowstone home movie, Norris Geyser Basin sign footage, vintage Wyoming travel film, and red-faded geyser landscape.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then other 1967 Yellowstone or Wyoming clips, then broader vintage national park and geothermal travel footage.
