England-1949: Peacock Struts Across The Grass As Chick Hops Out Of The Nest

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Useful for requests needing late-1940s English home-movie wildlife, estate garden, zoo, or domestic animal cutaways for documentary or museum productions.

Period detail

The soft 8mm color, contact-sheet framing, lawn, small signpost, and garden bird subject may show a mid-century English park, estate, or animal enclosure setting.

Home-movie behavior

The clip has the unstaged feel of a home-movie observer following a peacock at ground level as it walks, pecks, and moves past a nest-like stone bowl.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include a peacock on grass, iridescent green-blue plumage, a small signpost, a lawn or enclosure, a stone bowl or nest, and soft dark frame borders.

Film character

The footage carries 8mm texture with visible grain, soft focus, muted color, exposure falloff, scratches, and handheld framing that signal original amateur film.

Edit role

An editor could use this as a wildlife insert, estate-garden cutaway, transitional memory beat, or short atmospheric detail in a 1940s England sequence.

Historical context

The frames show a peacock filmed casually in an outdoor lawn setting, reflecting private or visitor-shot attention to animals rather than a staged natural-history scene.

Research note

No people, faces, brands, or readable logos are visible, but copyright, location/property status, and the exact setting should still be reviewed before use.
