Young Men at Poolside — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1978, this vintage home movie captures a group of young men at a California poolside. Shirtless and in swim trunks, they stand near a white tiled wall with dappled tree shadows cast across the surface. The footage shows casual interactions, with one man holding a snack, evoking a relaxed summer day. The warm, slightly faded color palette and visible film grain enhance the authentic 1970s home movie aesthetic. This archival footage is ideal for documentaries, nostalgic content, or editorial projects exploring 1970s American leisure culture.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports requests for 1970s California leisure or poolside home-movie footage for documentary inserts, memory sequences, or editorial context.
Period detail: The swim trunks, sunlit tiled wall, and faded 8mm color may show late-1970s casual poolside leisure, consistent with the supplied 1978 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the unstaged interaction as young men stand, talk, and move casually near a poolside wall from a close home-movie viewpoint.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include shirtless young men, swim trunks, a white tiled wall, tree shadows, a doorway, patio seating, and soft handheld framing.
Film character: The clip has warm faded color, visible 8mm grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, and handheld movement that read as authentic physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, transition, or memory beat for summer leisure, friendship, or private home-movie atmosphere.
Historical context: The footage provides a small social view of relaxed poolside gathering in California without identifying the people or property shown.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness and context review may be needed even when no logos, music, or obvious brands are visible.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1978 8mm California poolside home movie, 1970s friends by swimming pool, and vintage summer leisure footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then with other California 1978 home movies, then with 1970s pool, summer, friendship, or leisure footage.
