White Sailboats Docked at Lakeside Marina — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1973, this vintage home movie captures a serene lakeside marina in New York. White sailboats and motor yachts are docked along a wooden pier, their reflections shimmering on the calm water. The scene is viewed from behind an observer, with the top of their head visible in the foreground, creating a personal, nostalgic perspective. Lush green trees line the shore under a hazy sky, and the footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain and color shifts, evoking a strong sense of mid-1970s Americana and leisure. This archival clip is ideal for documentaries, editorial content, or nostalgic projects.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s New York home-movie marina footage for documentary or editorial sequences needing a quiet lakeside boating cutaway.
Period detail: The scene may show 1970s leisure boating through small sailboats, motor yachts, wooden slips, flagpoles, and soft 8mm color rendition.
Home-movie behavior: The partly visible observer at the frame edge gives the scene an unstaged visitor perspective rather than a composed travel shot.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include docked white boats, marina pilings, calm water reflections, shoreline trees, flags, a hazy sky, and a partial head in foreground.
Film character: The clip has 8mm grain, soft focus, blue-magenta color shift, slight exposure haze, and handheld framing typical of scanned home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a serene insert, waterside transition, boating cutaway, or memory beat within a 1970s recreation sequence.
Historical context: The footage reflects everyday marina recreation and waterside observation in New York without identifying a specific lake, town, or event.
Research note: A person is partially visible from behind, so likeness review may be needed even though no logos, music, or clear private property are flagged.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1973 New York marina home movie, 8mm lake boats, 1970s docked sailboats, and vintage boating recreation.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with same-reel waterside scenes, then other 1973 New York footage, then broader 1970s boating, lake, marina, or leisure material.
