New York-1973: View Of Blue And White Speedboat In Open Water On A Sunny Day

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

1970s New York home-movie footage of a speedboat on open water can support documentary inserts about leisure boating, waterfront travel, or summer recreation.

Period detail

The small runabout, canvas top, color 8mm texture, and distant shoreline may show early-1970s recreational boating in New York waters.

Home-movie behavior

The camera follows the boat from a nearby vantage point, giving the clip the casual, observational feel of a family or visitor filming a passing craft.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include a blue-and-white speedboat, open water, white spray, a small stern flag, distant shoreline, pale sky, and dark film frame edges.

Film character

The scan carries soft focus, visible grain, mild color fading, and handheld framing that place the footage clearly within a home-movie film source.

Edit role

An editor could use this as a brief waterfront cutaway, travel transition, leisure insert, or memory beat within a 1970s New York sequence.

Historical context

The clip reflects recreational boat traffic and shoreline viewing rather than a documented public event or identifiable landmark.

Research note

People and a boat name or marking appear visible, so likeness, vessel identification, and trademark-style concerns should be reviewed separately from footage licensing.

Research search match

Useful searches include 1970s New York speedboat home movie, 8mm boat on open water, vintage waterfront recreation, and blue-and-white runabout footage.

Archive pairing path

Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then other 1973 New York waterfront footage, then broader vintage boating and summer recreation material.
