Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1971 8mm wildlife home-movie footage useful for productions needing a brief New York City zoo or animal-behavior insert.
Period detail: The frames show brown bear cubs in a rocky water enclosure, with era evidence coming mainly from the 8mm film scan and the supplied 1971 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged visitor-shot view of two bear cubs pawing, nuzzling, and splashing in shallow water.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two brown bear cubs, shallow dark water, wet rocks, gray boulders, splashing paws, and a fixed enclosure-like setting.
Film character: The footage carries 8mm grain, soft focus, mild color shift, gate edges, and motion blur consistent with handheld home-movie capture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short wildlife cutaway, zoo-life insert, childhood memory beat, or transition into archival animal footage.
Historical context: The scene may reflect early-1970s public viewing of captive wildlife, but the frames support only a rocky enclosure with bear cubs in water.
Research note: No people, faces, logos, or brands are visible, though copyright, source permissions, and any location-property considerations should be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Searches such as 1971 8mm bear cubs, New York City zoo animals, vintage home movie wildlife, and brown bears in water may match this clip.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with same-reel animal footage, then other 1971 New York City material, then broader vintage zoo or wildlife home movies.
