Bear Cubs Wrestling in Zoo Pool — Clip Details

Two young grizzly bear cubs playfully wrestle in a shallow pool of water inside a zoo enclosure, surrounded by rocky walls and scattered boulders. Shot on 8mm film in 1971, the footage captures the cubs tumbling and nuzzling in the water, their brown fur glistening under natural light. The grainy, slightly faded color palette and soft focus reflect the vintage home movie aesthetic, with a dark foreground element suggesting a viewer or barrier. This nostalgic clip offers a rare glimpse of wildlife interaction from a bygone era, ideal for documentaries, nature content, or historical storytelling.

Archive brief fit: 1971 New York City 8mm zoo footage for productions needing a brief archival cutaway of young grizzly bears playing in an enclosure.
Period detail: The frames may show a 1970s zoo viewing perspective, with a rocky constructed habitat, shallow pool, and dark foreground barrier visible on the film scan.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has the feel of visitor-shot home-movie observation, holding on the cubs as they wrestle and nuzzle without staged action.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two bear cubs, shallow water, rock walls, scattered boulders, bare branch-like forms, dark frame edges, and a foreground obstruction.
Film character: The 8mm image carries soft focus, visible grain, warm faded color, uneven exposure, and slight handheld framing as part of its archival texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short wildlife insert, zoo cutaway, childhood memory beat, or transition within a 1970s urban leisure sequence.
Historical context: The footage documents zoo-animal viewing through a home-movie lens, showing captive wildlife behavior without making claims about the specific facility.
Research note: No people, faces, logos, or brands are visible, but users should still assess copyright, zoo-property context, and any project-specific permissions.

Archive pairing path: Pair first with neighboring shots from the same reel, then other 1971 New York City zoo footage, then broader vintage animal or wildlife-viewing scenes.
