New York City-1971: View Of Sleeping Polar Bear In Water On A Bright Sunny Day

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Useful for 1970s New York City zoo or animal-exhibit requests needing brief editorial cutaway footage of a polar bear in a concrete pool.

Period detail

The footage may show an early 1970s zoo enclosure, with high concrete walls, artificial icy ledges, bare trees, and visitor-shot 8mm framing.

Home-movie behavior

The clip has the quiet observational feel of a zoo visitor filming an animal at rest rather than a staged wildlife sequence.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include a polar bear, murky pool water, white artificial ledges, a tall concrete enclosure wall, bare trees, and dark film gate edges.

Film character

The 8mm scan carries soft focus, visible grain, slight color shift, high-contrast winter sun, and handheld framing consistent with home-movie material.

Edit role

An editor could use it as a short insert, transition, or memory beat for zoo visits, captive wildlife, urban leisure, or 1970s animal-display context.

Historical context

The scene documents a visitor-level view of a polar bear in a man-made zoo habitat, offering visual context for animal exhibition practices without identifying the zoo by sight alone.

Research note

No people, faces, logos, or brands are visible, but users should still review copyright status and any zoo property or animal-display context for the intended use.
