2 Ducks Walking Along Pool Edge — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1970, this vintage home movie captures two mallard ducks strolling along the concrete edge of a sunlit pool. The warm, slightly faded color palette and visible film grain evoke a nostalgic 1970s Americana feel. One duck walks confidently along the pool's edge while the other follows, both casting sharp shadows on the light-colored concrete. The dark water reflects the bright sky, and the footage is framed by the characteristic black borders of an 8mm home movie. This authentic archival clip offers a quiet, candid moment of wildlife in a suburban setting.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s home-movie requests needing a quiet animal cutaway, suburban poolside insert, or non-human Americana detail for documentary, museum, education, or commercial edits.
Period detail: The footage shows 8mm color home-movie texture from 1970, with sunlit concrete pool edging and casual framing that may show a residential or recreational setting in Florida, Michigan.
Home-movie behavior: The camera observes two ducks moving naturally along the pool edge, preserving an unstaged backyard or poolside wildlife moment without visible people directing the action.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two mallard ducks, dark pool water, pale concrete coping, strong midday shadows, black film-frame borders, small debris, and light water ripples.
Film character: The scan carries visible 8mm grain, slight color fading, high-contrast sunlight, soft focus, gate edges, and minor exposure variation that support its physical home-movie character.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief cutaway, gentle transition, animal behavior insert, or memory beat between broader 1970s domestic or outdoor scenes.
Historical context: The clip offers modest visual context for everyday 1970s home movies, showing common leisure-space surroundings and incidental wildlife rather than a staged event.
Research note: No people, faces, brands, or readable logos are visible, but copyright, location, and any property-related considerations should still be reviewed for the intended use.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1970 8mm ducks by pool, vintage mallards on concrete, Florida Michigan home movie animals, and 1970s suburban poolside wildlife footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then with other Florida, Michigan 1970 material, then with poolside, backyard, wildlife, or quiet home-movie cutaways.
