Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s American home-movie requests needing backyard pool leisure, summer recreation, or private family-life cutaways for documentary and editorial edits.
Period detail: The frames show 1959 8mm color home-movie footage with mid-century swimwear, a backyard pool, clipped hedges, and a potted palm that may show suburban leisure styling.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has unstaged home-movie value as men casually swim, stand in the water, and relax on an inner tube while the camera observes from poolside.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include adult men in a swimming pool, a black inner tube, pale pool edging, dense green hedges, a potted palm, lawn strips, and faded color film borders.
Film character: The footage carries 8mm archival texture through soft focus, visible grain, color fading, exposure variation, frame edges, and slight contact-sheet registration marks.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, memory beat, summer transition, or leisure-life cutaway within a sequence about family recreation or postwar domestic routines.
Historical context: The scene documents private outdoor swimming as family or social recreation, with the backyard setting giving visual context for mid-century leisure without identifying the household.
Research note: People and faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos are apparent, and copyright status should be assessed separately from privacy or property concerns.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1959 Indiana 8mm home movie backyard swimming pool, men swimming, summer leisure, inner tube, and mid-century family recreation footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with other Indiana 1959 home movies, then with backyard pool, summer leisure, and mid-century family recreation clips.
