Oil Well In Green Field On Cloudy Day — Clip Details

ARIZONA-1959: A vintage 8mm home movie captures a lone oil pump jack operating in a vast green field under a cloudy sky. The footage, shot from a moving vehicle, shows the rhythmic motion of the pump against the flat, open landscape. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s editorial requests needing rural American oil extraction, roadside industrial landscapes, or quiet energy-infrastructure cutaways from home-movie footage.
Period detail: The muted color 8mm look, distant pump jack, open fields, and metadata-supported 1959 Arizona setting place the scene in a mid-century rural industrial context.
Home-movie behavior: The footage appears casually filmed from a moving vehicle, giving it an unstaged traveler viewpoint rather than a composed industrial survey.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a pump jack, low green field, flat horizon, cloudy sky, distant utility poles, small structures, dark frame edges, and motion blur.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, uneven exposure, gate edges, and vehicle movement give the clip a physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, transition, or cutaway for oil production, rural travel, land use, or mid-century energy themes.
Historical context: The clip visually connects petroleum activity with open rural land, showing an industrial object set within a broad agricultural or grassland landscape.
Research note: No people, logos, or readable marks are visible, but copyright and any site-specific property questions should still be reviewed before publication.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1959 Arizona oil well footage, 8mm pump jack in field, rural petroleum landscape, and vintage roadside industrial cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other shots from the same reel, then with 1959 Arizona travel footage, then with rural industry, oil infrastructure, or open-landscape material.
