Autumn Forest And River View From Elevated Perspective — Clip Details

A vintage 8mm home movie from 1964 captures a scenic forest landscape in West Virginia. The footage opens with a close-up of a tree displaying vibrant autumn colors—rich oranges and reds—contrasting against surrounding green foliage. The scene transitions to a wide, elevated view of a dense forest stretching toward a bright blue sky, with a river or light-colored path winding through the trees below. The film exhibits classic Super 8 grain, color shifts, and soft focus, evoking a nostalgic, personal memory of a family outing in nature.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s editorial projects needing West Virginia home-movie nature footage, autumn foliage, or elevated forest-and-river landscape cutaways.
Period detail: The clip's 1964 date is supported by metadata, while the visible clues are mainly the 8mm color home-movie look, soft focus, and handheld scenic framing.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has the feel of an unstaged family travel or outing record, pausing on fall color before looking out across a wooded landscape.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a red-orange autumn tree, dense green woods, bright blue sky, an elevated treetop view, a pale river or path, and dark film-frame borders.
Film character: The scan carries 8mm grain, saturated color shifts, soft focus, gate edges, and slight handheld instability that read as physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief establishing insert, seasonal transition, landscape cutaway, or quiet memory beat within a family or regional sequence.
Historical context: The view documents a mid-1960s home-movie encounter with Appalachian woodland scenery without showing identifiable people, buildings, or public events.
Research note: No people, logos, or clear private property are visible, but users should still assess copyright status and any location-specific property concerns before reuse.
Research search match: Likely matches searches for 1964 West Virginia 8mm forest footage, autumn foliage home movie, elevated river view, and vintage Appalachian landscape.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1964 West Virginia scenes, then broader 1960s home-movie nature and travel footage.
