Student Poses With Science Fair Project Logic Systems... — Clip Details

A young student in a dark suit and tie presents a science fair project on logic systems and computers at a 1963 event in Texas. The project, titled 'Computers That Reason,' demonstrates a logic system using a practical application to play tic-tac-toe against a human opponent. The display features a schematic diagram and a physical model with illuminated grid patterns. Shot on 8mm film, this vintage footage captures the era's academic innovation and youthful ambition in early computer science.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s education, science fair, and early computer logic sequences needing brief editorial home-movie footage from Texas.
Period detail: The display lettering, suit and tie, and hands-on logic-system exhibit support an early 1960s academic fair setting.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the posed, informal presentation of a student beside his project rather than a staged institutional demonstration.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include the student in glasses, a dark suit, the Computers That Reason sign, schematic panels, a wooden project base, and illuminated tic-tac-toe grids.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, warm color drift, visible grain, uneven exposure, and handheld framing that suit personal archival footage.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, cutaway, or memory beat for youth science, logic, computing, or school achievement stories.
Historical context: The clip shows a student project framing computers through logic and game play, reflecting classroom-level interest in reasoning machines.
Research note: People are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no visible logos are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from personal or property rights.
Research search match: Searches such as 1960s Texas science fair student computer project, 8mm logic systems exhibit, or tic-tac-toe computer display may match this clip.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1963 Texas school or fair footage, then broader 1960s science and early computing material.
