San Francisco California-1944: Football Game in Crowded Stadium

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Supports 1940s San Francisco sports and wartime-era public gathering requests for documentary, museum, education, or editorial sequences.

Period detail

The packed open-air stadium, period football uniforms, sideline officials, and 8mm home-movie framing may show a mid-1940s American football game.

Home-movie behavior

The clip has a spectator-shot viewpoint from the stands, catching game action, sideline figures, and crowd scale without staged presentation.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include football players in light and dark uniforms, a crowded grandstand, sideline spectators, officials, field grass, and film-frame borders.

Film character

The scan shows blue-tinted 8mm color, soft focus, heavy grain, handheld framing, gate edges, and exposure shifts that read as authentic home-movie texture.

Edit role

Editors can use it as a brief sports insert, crowd cutaway, wartime-era recreation beat, or transition into a sequence about public leisure in the 1940s.

Historical context

The footage visually places American football within a large urban crowd setting during the World War II era, without identifying the teams or event.

Research note

People and faces are visible at distance, so likeness and event identification should be reviewed separately from copyright or footage licensing.
